"Prepare for the unknown by studying how others in the past coped with the unforeseeable and the unpredictable."                        ~ General George Patton

On behalf of the Connecticut State Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Connecticut Officers, we extend a warm welcome to you. As the 32nd Connecticut State Regent it is a pleasure to introduce you to our 45 chapters and the 2,400 members from around the state.

Organized in 1892, we are mindful as we move forward into the future to remember and honor those who for 114 years have provided leadership and guidance with the principle of excellence as reflected in the DAR motto: God, Home, and Country.

From generation to generation the bond from mother to daughter to granddaughter has run deep. The DAR is a multi-generational service volunteer organization that honors the ties we have all shared beyond the years. The success of our organization is the individuals who continue to make a difference. The Connecticut Daughters are An Essential Piece that links our past as we build upon our future.

Connecticut Daughters are active throughout their communities promoting Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism. The Connecticut Society owns and maintains several historic properties, which are open to the public during the months of May through October.

The Connecticut DAR sponsors several scholarships for graduating high school seniors to help further their education. Students are encouraged to contact the chapter's link in your area for further information. Local chapters also award prizes to students annually for their outstanding accomplishments in American History, and offer Good Citizen and Good Citizenship Medals.

Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove her lineal descent from a patriot who gave aid or was a soldier in the American Revolution, is eligible for membership in the National Society. To learn more about the DAR or to information about membership follow this link to the national web site.

Once you have determined your eligibility, please contact us, and we will help you find a chapter near you. All of us have within us the power to discover our legacy. You are "An Essential Piece" to your puzzle that, upon reflection, will be your legacy!

In DAR Friendship,

Jennie May Rehnberg
